Melbourne singer Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Kelly always dreamed of a recording and singing career. On the X-Factor in 2011, he brought the judges to tears, and people around Australia fell in love with Manny just as much as they did with his music.
Who could forget his audition tape?
If you haven’t seen it already (this clip has over 2 million views), Manny sings a moving rendition of John Lennon’s “Imagine” to a standing ovation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCHS6geSs-k.
A tragic but uplifting story, Manny and his brother Ahmed were adopted from Iraq both victims of chemical warfare and suffering limb deficiencies. The brothers were abandoned and found in a shoebox in a park and brought to an orphanage. After meeting the brothers and sensing their ‘spirit’, the founder of the Children First Foundation Moira Kelly rescued and adopted the brothers in 1998 and they moved to Australia as a family.
Charming Manny stared on The Project last month. (You can watch a replay here http://tenplay.com.au/channel-ten/the-project/extra/season-5/emmanuel-kelly).
Very exciting times lie ahead for Manny who has just released his debut single, Let Love Find You, which is available to buy on iTunes. Go on and have a listen.
Genesys and Complete Wealth have been supporting Children First since 2001, believing in Children First’s vision and commitment to change lives. Genesys provide a vital contribution through financial support, workplace events and passionate involvement.
Ahmed’s story is just as impressive. He is a quadruple amputee and swimmer and represented Australia in the 50m backstroke, 50m backstroke, 150m individual medley and 100m freestyle at the 2012 Summer Paralympics.
Both these boys are an absolute inspiration. We are so proud to be supporting Children First Foundation that allows miracles and dreams such as these to become a reality.
